State Service Exam is conducted for recruitment to various posts in government departments and offices of the state of Madhya Pradesh. This exam is conducted in two stages namely the preliminary exam and the main exam. Following the IAS exam pattern aspirants who clear the prelim exam are allowed to appear for the main exam. The number of candidates admitted to appear for the main exam is fifteen times more than the number of available vacancies. However the best candidates who clear the main exam and the following procedure are admitted to various posts in respective government department.

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission was constituted in 1956. One of the major functions of MPPSC is recruitment of suitable candidates to the State Services by Direct Selection, Promotions, or Transfers.For the direct selection process, the commission conducts State Service Examination. The Commission is also consulted on all disciplinary matters affecting a person serving under Government of India or the Government of a State in a civil capacity.

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen or India

Educational qualification

Degree of any of the universities recognized by the government of Madhya Pradesh.

Professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the State Government as equivalent to professional and technical.

Age

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January next following the date of commencement of the competitive examination.

State Government may vary the lower and upper age limits for any of the services at certain times.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxed for certain cases:
  • up to a maximum of five years: if a candidate domiciled in Madhya Pradesh belongs to a caste or tribe notified as scheduled caste or scheduled tribe by the Government of Madhya Pradesh;
  • up to a maximum of 3 years: if a candidate is a bonafide repatriate of Indian origin from:
  • Burma, who migrated to on or after 1st June 1963;or
  • Srilanka, who migrated to after 1st November, 1964; or
  • If the candidate is a bonafide displaced person from erstwhile East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and had migrated 10 India during the period between 1st January 1964 and 25th March 1971.
  • up to a maximum of 8 years: if the candidate repatriate or displaced person belongs to a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe.
  • up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is a widow on her first appointment;
  • up to a maximum of 2 years: if the candidate holds a Green Card in his/her name under the Family Welfare Programme;
  • up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is a forward partner of a prize-winning couple under inter caste Marriage Scheme sponsored by the Tribal Harijan and Backward Class Welfare Department;
  • up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is sportsman honored with the ‘Vikram Award’
  • up to a maximum of 3 years: in the case of Defence Services personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof;
  • up to a maximum of 8 years: if the candidate falling under the category. Supra belongs to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe;
  • up to a maximum of 3 years: in the case of a candidate who is bonafide, repatriate of Indian origin (Indian passport holder) from Vietnam as also a candidate holding emergency certificate issued to him by Indian Embassy in Vietnam and who arrived in India from Vietnam not earlier than July. 1975;
  • up to a maximum of. 8 years: if the candidate falling under category(x) supra belongs to a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe;
  • up to a maximum of 5 years: if the case of Ex-servicemen and Commissioned officers including ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years military service as on 1st January preceding date of commencement of examination and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within six month from the said date ) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or on account of physical disability attributable to Military service or on invalidment;
  • up to a maximum of 10 years: in case the candidate falling under category supra belongs to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe;
  • up to a maximum of 3 years: if the candidate is an employee of the Madhya Pradesh Government or state Government undertaking either as a permanent or temporary Government servant.
  • N.B. The term temporary Government servant includes a person borne on work-charged and contingency paid the staff of the Madhya Pradesh Government
  • Thin concession will not be admissible if the candidates resign from service either before or after taking the examination. they will, however, continue to be eligible if they are retrenched from service or post after submitting their application.
  • up to a maximum of 3 years: if the candidate is a retrenched government servant, after deducting from his age the period of all temporary service previously rendered by him up to a maximum of seven years even if it represents more than one spell;
Explanation :

The term ‘retrenched Government servant denotes a person who was in temporary Government service of the state of Madhya Pradesh or any of its constituent units for a continuous period of not less than six months and who was discharged because of reduction in establishment not more than three years prior to the date of registration at the Employment Exchange or of application made otherwise for employment in Government service.

  • up to a maximum of 10 years : if the candidate is a handicapped and applying to the service / posts class III only.

Note: The marks which are secured in the prelims are only for qualifying the Mains Examination. It is not counted to determine the order of merit. The Qualifying marksfor Paper II: Aptitude is 33%. But the candidates will be promoted to the Mains only based on the Qualifying marks in Paper I: General Studies.

Age Limit:
Candidates aged between 21 and 40 years of age are eligible to apply for MPPSC State Service Preliminary Exam 2015.
 
Age Relaxation is applicable as per government rules.
 
Educational Qualification:
Graduation in any discipline or equivalent qualification from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.

The Mains Examination is a written Examination. It consists of 6 Papers which are namely Paper I to Paper VI which are based on Ranking. The Questions will be available in Hindi as well as English in the Question Papers.

The Final Ranking of the candidates: This is done based on the marks obtained in the Mains and the Interview.


Fee

1- A candidate seeking admission to the Preliminary Examination must pay to the Commission, a fee as decided by the State Government.

2- Payment shall be made through Cross Bank Draft issued by any scheduled Bank. The Draft shall be prepared in favor of the Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, Indore and payable at Indore.

3- It may be noted that fee sent through Money Order, Cheque, Postal Order or any other mode of payment shall not be accepted by the Commission and such application will be treated as without fee and will be summarily rejected.

4-The candidates admitted to the Main Examination will be required to pay a further fee as decided by the State Government.

5-Fees once paid whether for the Preliminary Examination or for the Main Examination shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other Examination or Selection.

How to clear MPPSC Exam
Generally it is said that mppsc pre exam is very simple really it is simple if you follow the pattern of the exam with right strategy, but the cutoff is always very high for mppsc pre exam result.That means for general category students 85 questions must be correct out of 100 to be in a safe zone. You have to make a stratefy for MPPSC preparation study for atleast 4 to 5 hours if you are newcomer, first pre pare for the polity and Bare acts (sc-st prevention act, civil rights act etc).Then General knowledge of madhya pradesh like (dams,rivers,national parks, sanctuaries, folk songs, historical places, tribes,political scenario, sports, Culture, sports awards, fairs in mp, Vojana of mp govt.), read about indian economy and current affairs related to madhya pradesh, india. Pratiyogita darpan, news papers, last year exam papers study all don't let any thing PSC exam.

How many attempts are allowed for MPPSC
Candidates of General Category can give MPPSC any number of times till the age of 40 years old (for general). For SC/ST there is further relaxation of age.
