About Civil Judge Exam

Judiciary exam or the PCS (J)-Provincial Civil Service-Judicial Examination is the entry-level exam for law graduates to become appointed as members of the subordinate judiciary. The members are appointed by the state government under the supervision of the respective high court. The members are appointed based on the Judiciary exam.

The High Court of Madhya Pradesh had released the notification last year in December for the Civil Judge posts on the official website. The MP Civil Judge notification was released on December 21, 2021. Candidates can check the vacancies, exam dates, online application dates, eligibility, and more in the MP Judicial Service notification 2022.

There are various levels of judiciary in India – different types of courts, each with varying powers depending on the tier and jurisdiction bestowed upon them. They form a strict hierarchy of precedence, in line with the order of the courts in which they sit, with the Supreme Court of India at the top, followed by High Courts of respective states with district judges sitting in District Courts and Magistrates of Second Class and Civil Judge (Junior Division) at the bottom. Well, in the Indian Judiciary in order to make the judiciary more expendable the judicial officer is also deputed to various departments or ministries other than the field (court) work, where the judicial power is extended. The possible reason for deputation might be it help -

  • The judicial officer to share and extend their legal knowledge in order to establish a better justice system.
  • Reduces the unnecessary/petty case burden from the courts.
  • The High Court & Supreme Court can easily review the working of various departments.

Civil Judge Exam Pattern

The selection process involves three stages of exams. The prelims exam is for all the applicants, which is followed by the mains exam. The prelims qualified candidates are called for the mains exam.

Prelims Exam:

The prelims examination of MP Judicial is the main phase of recruitment of MP Judiciary, where the applicants are selected based on their online test performance. The prelims exam paper consists of 150 multiple choice questions, and each question carries one mark. Candidates who score minimum qualifying marks can opt for the Mains examination. The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours.

Note:- There is no negative marking in Prelims Exam.

Mains Exam:

It is a primary examination that is a descriptive testing approach for candidates. There are four sections, which amount to 400 marks in total. Applicants who qualified for this section are welcomed in the interview process.

Interview:

The candidate's general knowledge, legal norms, and fitness will be assessed during the interview phase. The interviewee will ask a sequence of questions. The interview earns a total of 50 marks. The final selection will only take into consideration the marks received in the test and interview process.

Note:- It is mandatory for the applicants to secure at least 40% marks i.e. 20 marks in the interview to be finally selected.

Civil Judge Eligibility Criteria

Here are the minimum eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to appear for the Civil Judge exam. Only eligible candidates applications will be accepted by the Court

Educational qualification:

MP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment examination is open to candidates completing their 3 to 5 year LLB degree from any University recognized by the Government and Bar Councils.

Age restriction:

The minimum age limit is 21 years, and the maximum age is 35 years, as of 1st January 2021.

Upper Age Limit:-

  • OBC, SC & ST candidates of M.P will have 3 years of upper age relaxation.
  • The age limit will be 21 to 38 for MP government employees, applicable to all categories

General requirements:

The applicant should be a good moral citizen of India without any inquest in the past.
