Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the 2019 SARAS IITF Mela:-

The Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Agriculture Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the SARAS IITF Mela 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 18 November 2019.

The SARAS IITF Mela has been organized by Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) along with DAY-NRLM, Minister for Rural Development (MoRD).

SARAS Mela:

♦ SARAS Mela is an initiative by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). The aim is to bring the rural women Self Help Groups (SHGs) members formed under DAY-NRLM. The platform aims to showcase their skills, sell and build linkages with potential market players.

♦ SARAS Mela provides a platform to these SHG women and a national level exposure to understand the demand and taste of the urban customers in metros.

♦ The stalls displayed a large variety of natural food items, handloom, and handicraft items made by SHG members.
