MPPSC Eligibility Criteria

1. Minimum Educational qualification:

Candidate should be a graduate or holder of an equivalent degree from a university recognized under the Central Act or the State Act, a University or an Educational Institution or University Grants Commission, 1956 (Notification No. 03, 1956).

Note 1. Candidates who have such professional or technical qualifications, which are equivalent to the professional or technical degree recognized by the State Government, will also be eligible for admission in the examination.

Note 2. For the post of District / Area Convenor, Primitive Welfare Department, those candidates will be given preference, who have taken sociology as a subject at graduation level. Preference means that in the event of equal marks, that such candidate will be selected first in the final selection, who have taken sociology as a subject at the graduation level

2. Age Limit:

General category (Unreserved male):21- 40 years.

General category (reserved male):21- 45 years.

General Category (Unreserved / Reserved Women):21- 45 years.

Divyangjan/Differently abled: 21-45 years

3. Physical qualification:

Physical Measurements is not required for most of the posts. But for few physical and age requirement will be applicable according to Service Rules/ requisitions, in case of availability of posts e.g. Dy. Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Jail, Commercial Tax Inspector etc.

MPPSC Exam Pattern / Plan of the examination

The exam will consist of three successive stages

• Preliminary Examination (Objective Type & Multiple-choice questions based on OMR).
• Mains Examination (Written/Conventional essay-type examination).
• Viva- Voce (Personality Test).

Candidates will be admitted in successive stages only if they qualify the preceding stage.

1) Preliminary Examination:

consists of two compulsory papers of MCQs (multiple choice questions) type i.e. General studies paper 1 and General studies paper 2/Aptitude paper or commonly known as CSAT paper. Both the papers are of 200 marks consisting 100 questions each and of 2 hours duration for each paper.

Each question paper is prepared according to the following plan:

Note :1 This examination is taken as a screening test only. Candidates, on the basis of the marks obtained in this examination, are declared qualified / qualified for the main examination. The final selection is  made only on the basis of marks obtained in the main examination and interview. Note 3. Both questions will be of objective type (multiple choice). There will be four possible answers for each question, which will be grouped in A, B, C and D, one of which will be the correct answer. Candidate is expected to mark only one answer from the A, B, C, or D, which they consider correct in the answer sheet

Note : 2 Each question paper will be in Hindi and English

Note : 4. Paper 2 is of qualifying nature. Therefore, the merit of the Candidates is determined based on marks obtained in Paper 1 of the Preliminary Examination.

Note: 5. There is no negative marking in both the papers

2) Mains Examination

There will be a total of 6 question papers in the State Service Main Examination and all the question papers are mandatory

1. The number of questions, type of questions and the format of the word limits for the answers in the examination papers are as follows: First, the second and third paper of general studies, consists of two sections A and B. Each segment will be of 150 number. A separate answer booklet for each segment will be provided. The total 03 essay questions, 10 short answers and 15 very short answers will take place in each section.

2. All in all, there are 3 Questions with sub-questions within them. The first question is of short answer type consisting of 15 compulsory questions and each question requires the answer of 1 to 2 lines only. Next, in question number two any 15 questions are to be answered with each question having a word limit of 150 words. The third question consists of study based questions. 3. The first, second, third and fourth and sixth question papers of general study will be provided in Hindi and English medium. The candidate can choose to write the answer in one language that is Hindi or English medium

3) Personality Test/Interview: 

The interview is the final stage of the exam and will be of 175 marks.

Finally, marks obtained in mains and interview stage are added for making the final merit list that is 1500 of mains exam and 175 of the interview stage are added.
